Section 542.1 - Background and intent

(a) The Office of Mental Health is responsible for developing standards which provide an adequate level of safety for patients and residents receiving services in facilities operated or licensed by the Office of Mental Health.

(b) This regulation sets forth the general rule prohibiting possession of firearms at State psychiatric facilities and facilities licensed by the Office of Mental Health.

(c) This regulation also sets forth the limited circumstances under which an exception to this general rule may be granted and the safety standards to which an individual who has been granted such an exception must adhere.
