If a patient leaves a department facility or facility issued an operating certificate without notice or fails to return when expected from a known visit away from the facility, the family or near friend of the patient shall be notified immediately and written record shall be made of the time and method of notification and persons notified. If the facility deems it appropriate, police authorities may be notified and requested to assist in locating the patient.
