Section 712-1.4 - Maternity nursing units

Hospitals that provide perinatal services shall have a maternity patient nursing unit, an obstetrical suite, and a newborn nursery unit so located as to prevent traffic through them to any other part of the hospital. These units shall be completely separate from all other clinical services, including the gynecological service. The maternity unit shall comply with the minimum requirements for other nursing units as required by this Subpart.
