The estimated fair monetary value, based on a facility's compensation policies, of services related to patient care or in administrative positions essential to provisions of patient care performed by individuals who receive no monetary compensation or partial compensation for their services, but in which there is an employer-employee relationship between the individual and the facility. The term is usually applied to services rendered by members of religious orders, societies or similar groups to institutions operated by or affiliated with such groups.
