Section 9.2.18.17 - U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE (USDA) COMMODITY ASSISTANCE

A. USDA assistance in the form of cash, commodities or items processed with commodities for meals served will be used in accordance with regulations of USDA and the State Agency;

B. Any meal served by a State Agency funded provider to eligible persons which meet the RDA requirements, regardless of the funding source, will be reported for either USDA cash or commodity assistance. However, only Title III funded programs are eligible to receive USDA assistance;

C. USDA cash must only be used to purchase food which is grown or processed in the United States. Coffee, tea, decaffeinated beverages and fruits and vegetables grown outside of the U.S. are not USDA reimbursable;

D. Grants for nutrition services provided under the Older Americans Act, as amended, are not reduced when USDA assistance levels increase.
