Current through Register Vol. 35, No. 6, March 26, 2024

This rule establishes entry-level science competencies that are based on what beginning science teachers must know and be able to do to provide effective science programs in New Mexico schools. These competencies shall be incorporated into all college or university curricula for persons seeking a science endorsement to their state educator license. The competencies were developed to ensure alignment with the New Mexico's content standards and benchmarks for science and with the national standards of the national science teachers association. In addition, the national science education standards developed by national research council and the American association for the advancement of science benchmarks were used as guidelines for the development of the entry-level science competencies.
