In accordance with Section 18-3-5, NMSA 1978, which states that the director of the museum of New Mexico is empowered to "employ directors, professional museum personnel and other employees, pursuant to requirements of the state personnel board...," all hiring of professional staff shall require final approval by the director. In addition, permission of the director must be obtained prior to major personnel actions, including promotions, transfers and disciplinary measures, involving any museum employee. Formal disciplinary action against a museum employee will not be initiated without prior consultation with the personnel officer, administrative services division (OCA).
