Section 9A:9-3.5 - Part-time students

(a) Eligibility for Tuition Aid Grants shall be extended on an annual basis to part-time students based upon the approval of the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority and the level of appropriated funds. Eligibility for part-time Tuition Aid Grant/Educational Opportunity Fund (TAG/EOF) students must also be approved by the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education, or its successor office.

(c) The provisions of N.J.A.C. 9A:9-2 shall apply to part-time students receiving Tuition Aid Grants except where such provisions specifically refer to full-time students. Certification of part-time status is the responsibility of the enrolling institution.
(d) Payments to eligible students shall be counted for the purpose of the requirements set forth in 9A:9-2.1 1 as one-half a semester of payment.
(e) An eligible part-time EOF student pursuant to 9A:11-2.9 enrolled on a half-time basis (six to eight credits) shall receive a part-time Tuition Aid Grant award equal to the value of one-half of the student's full-time award. An eligible EOF student enrolled on a three-quarter time basis (nine to 11 credits) shall receive a part-time Tuition Aid Grant award equal to three-quarters of the student's full-time award. The value of the part-time award, however, shall not exceed the actual tuition charge for the student's part-time enrollment.
(f) An eligible part-time student attending a New Jersey county college, pursuant to 18A:64A-1, shall receive a part-time Tuition Aid Grant equal to the value established by the part-time TAG Award Table approved by the Authority. The value of the part-time TAG award, however, shall not exceed the actual tuition charge for the student's part-time enrollment.
