Chapter 47 - STATE HIGHWAY ACCESS MANAGEMENT CODE
Subchapter 1 - PURPOSE, SCOPE, AND GENERAL PROVISIONS
Section 16:47-1.1 - Purpose

(a) The purpose of this chapter is to provide a system of access management to protect and enhance the safety and efficiency of the State highway system and the public investment in that system, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 27:7-89et seq. This purpose is achieved through the regulation of access to the State highway system.

(b) Nothing set forth in this chapter shall be interpreted as requiring the Department to construct or improve access to the State highway system or make other improvements related thereto. The Department will not expend public funds to assist a lot or site owner in obtaining access to a State highway.
