The scope of practice of a certified pedorthist granted a license pursuant to 13:44H-3.2 shall be limited to the design, manufacture, fit and modification of shoes and related foot appliances which extend from the ankle and below and which are prescribed by a physician licensed to practice medicine or surgery or a licensed doctor of podiatric medicine for the amelioration of painful or disabling conditions of the foot. "Foot appliances" for the purposes of this section include prosthetic fillers and orthotic appliances for use from the ankle and below.
