Section 12:185-21.1 - General provisions

(a) All hazardous machinery shall be guarded in accordance with the safety regulations of this Department relating to machine safeguarding and shall be adequately protected to prevent all access to the danger zones during operation.

(b) Equipment or machinery shall not be operated unless it is in good working order and all safeguards are in place.

(c) No equipment or machinery shall be operated by unauthorized personnel.

(d) Equipment and machinery shall be manned only by competent operators.

(e) Equipment and machinery shall not be lubricated while in motion. This does not apply to equipment or machinery equipped with extension lubrication fitting or other means of lubrication which can be serviced safely.

(f) Adequate passageway clearance shall be provided at machine installations, and passageways shall be kept free of stumbling and slipping hazards.

(g) All equipment and machinery shall be adequately illuminated.

(h) All machine guards shall be of substantial metal construction except in construction work.
