Section 10A:14-1.3 - Definitions

The following words and terms, when used in this chapter, shall have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:

"Basic clothing issue" means the initial State clothing issue provided to all inmates, as deemed appropriate based on gender and weather conditions.

"Commissary purchased clothing" means personal clothing purchased at the correctional facility commissary by the inmate.

"Smoking" means the burning of, inhaling from, exhaling the smoke from, or the possession of a lighted cigar, cigarette, pipe, or any other matter or substance that contains tobacco or any other matter that can be smoked.

"Special clothing issue" means clothing issued to inmates assigned to specific work details such as, but not limited to, food services, hospital, farm, sanitation, mechanical services and outside details.

"State clothing issue" means all clothing issued by the New Jersey Department of Corrections.

"Tobacco paraphernalia" includes ignition device, rolling paper, pipe, or any product used to inhale or ingest a tobacco product.

"Tobacco products" includes, but is not limited to, cigars, cigarettes, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco, smokeless tobacco, etc., but excludes nicotine lozenges.
