(a) Any currently licensed EMS I/C shall be eligible for renewal in accordance with Saf-C 5909.03 and Saf-C 5909.04(a)(2) and (3).

(b) Any currently licensed EMS I/C in the state shall be eligible for renewal upon meeting the following requirements within the previous 2 years as a licensed EMS I/C:

(1) At minimum, 20 hours of instruction in a training program(s) approved by the division;

(2) Attendance at EMS I/C updates as required by the division, which shall be 20 hours or less; and

(3) At minimum, attendance at 6 hours of continuing education in order to improve teaching skills such as educational methodology.

(c) In order to make necessary improvements in the quality of instruction provided, any currently licensed EMS I/C shall be audited by the division in every 2-year licensing period if he or she fails to maintain a pass rate of 75% for all students on his or her course roster who takes the National Registry cognitive examination, utilizing the criteria as set forth in Saf-C 5915.04.

(d) Any instructor who has pass rates of 75% or less, as set forth in (c) above, in 2 consecutive I/C licensing cycles, shall undergo remedial training with a licensed EMS I/C assigned by the division.

(e) After remedial training pursuant to (d) above, an instructor who fails to provide adequate training to students shall be subject to disciplinary action pursuant to Saf-C 5922.
