(a) All rental boats powered by gasoline or other flammable fuel, shall in addition to the equipment otherwise specified in these rules, have equipment of a type to be approved by the division as follows:

(1) A forced draft blower for ventilating enclosed bilge, engine, and fuel tank compartments;

(2) Two paddles, if the boat is a class A or I; and

(3) One anchor attached to a sufficient amount of line capable of securing a vessel in the case of an emergency or mechanical failure.

(b) The requirements of (a) above shall not apply to rental boats that are manually propelled, sailboats less than 20 feet in length, or personal watercrafts.

(c) All rental boats are subject to inspection by the director for the following:

(1) Required safety equipment is in serviceable condition;

(2) Overall condition of the vessel including, but not limited to, hull and structure condition; and

(3) Mechanical spaces are clean and in good repair.

(d) All rental boats with enclosed engine compartments shall be inspected annually by the director prior to the issuance of the registration certificate.
