(a) These rules shall apply to all firms and persons engaged in the business of inspecting, installing and servicing portable fire extinguishers and fixed fire extinguishing systems, fire sprinkler systems, and fire alarm systems in this state and who wish to be certified in accordance with these rules.
(b) These rules shall not apply to:
(1) Fire departments or certified private
firefighting units pursuant to Saf-C 6016, who service portable fire
extinguishers intended for the exclusive use by the fire department when the
members of the fire department are trained in the proper servicing of the fire
extinguishers;
(2) A person or
organization that only sells or supplies products or materials for portable
fire extinguishers, fixed fire extinguishing systems, fire sprinkler systems,
or fire alarm systems;
(3)
Inspection activities performed by a governmental official; and
(4) Inspection activities conducted as part
of an insurance or engineering survey.
