Member contributions previously paid for by the employer or made by the member which relate to earnable compensation, exclusive of the grandfathered amount, and which were not used in the calculation of the member's benefits solely because of the earnable compensation cap, shall be returned to the member. Interest on such returned contributions shall be payable in accordance with the interest rate set by the NHRS's board of trustees in accordance with RSA 100-A:16, II(g). Those related contributions paid by the member's employer shall be returned to the employer.
