Section He-E 503.07 - Responsibilities of Respite Care Providers

(a) The respite care provider shall:

(1) Be an entity chosen by the primary caregiver, which is either:
a. An agency providing health and/or social services; or

b. An individual employed by such an agency;

(2) Be trained in subject areas described in (b) below; and

(3) Prior to providing services, provide permission for the contract agency to obtain information from:
a. A criminal background check; and

b. A check of the state registry on abuse, neglect, and exploitation in accordance with RSA 161-F:49.

(b) The contract agency employing the individuals who provide respite care services shall ensure they have received training in the following subject areas:

(1) The diagnosis, characteristics, symptoms and progress of ADRD specifically, including:
a. The physical and mental functioning of the person with ADRD; and

b. Management of potential behavior problems that arise during various stages of ADRD; and

(2) The aspects of care of the person with ADRD, including but not limited to:
a. Communication;

b. Behavior problems:

c. Nutrition;

d. Management of continence;

e. Assistance with basic toileting and toileting of hygiene measures;

f. Ambulation;

g. Personal hygiene;

h. Assistance with oral and topical medications;

i. Recreational activities; and

j. Common stressors experienced by caregivers of individuals with ADRD.
