"Maximum contaminant level goal (MCLG)" means "maximum contaminant level goal" as defined in RSA 485:1-a,VIII, namely "that level of a contaminant in water at which no known or anticipated adverse effects on the health of consumers occur and which allows an adequate margin of safety, as determined by federal and state agencies." Maximum contaminant level goals are nonenforceable health goals.
