(a) A septic tank used in an ISDS that does not have a pump may be separated into 2 or more compartments, provided:
(1) The first compartment equals at least 2/3
of the required volume for the septic tank; and
(2) The total volume of all compartments
equals or exceeds the liquid capacity required by Env-Wq 1010.01.
(b) A septic tank used in a pump system may be separated into 2 or more compartments, provided:
(1) The first compartment equals at least 2/3
of the required volume of the septic tank; and
(2) The total volume of the compartments,
exclusive of the pump chamber, equals or exceeds the liquid capacity required
by Env-Wq 1010.01.
(c) If a septic tank has more than one compartment, the following shall apply:
(1) Venting between compartments shall be
provided to allow free passage of gas;
(2) Inlet and outlet baffles shall be
proportioned at the inlet and outlet as for a single-compartment tank;
and
(3) The total storage above the
liquid line in each compartment shall be as specified in Env-Wq
1010.09(a).
