(a) Bedding material beneath a septic tank shall:
(1)
Consist of at least 4 inches of sand or crushed stone placed on a firm and
uniform base;
(2) Be level and
compacted so as to prevent differential settling of the ground underneath the
tank; and
(3) Not bear on boulders
or rock edges or any aggregate in excess of 3 inches in size.
(b) Backfill around a septic tank shall be:
(1) Placed in lifts as specified by
the tank manufacturer, but in no case greater than 12 inches; and
(2) Compacted in a manner that does not
damage the structural integrity of the tank.
