"Fire-retardant coating" means a coating formulated and labeled to retard ignition and flame spread, that has been fire tested and rated by an independent third party in accordance with the ASTM test method required by the state building code, currently E84, and approved by state building code officials for use in New Hampshire to bring building and construction materials into compliance with state building code requirements.
