Section Asb 305.02 - Request to Extend Time Period for Continuing Education or Criminal Background Check

(a) Any person certified by the DRA, prior to the expiration date of his or her certification, may request in writing for an extension of a period of time not to exceed 6 months, from the DRA for completion of their continuing education hours.

(b) Any person certified by the DRA, prior to the expiration date of their certification, may request in writing for an extension of a period of time not to exceed one month, from the DRA for obtaining the criminal background check.

(c) The request shall state:

(1) The reason for the request; and

(2) If applicable, the amount of time needed to complete the necessary continued education courses with a proposed timetable, if possible, or course already scheduled.

(d) The DRA shall:

(1) Review the reason for the request for reasonableness such as, but not limited to:
a. Major illness;

b. Financial hardship; or

c. Personal issues; and

(2) Notify the person within 30 days of receipt of the request that:
a. The extension has been granted; or

b. The extension has been denied and the reason for the denial.

(e) Any continuing education hours earned during the period of the extension shall not apply towards continuing education hours for the certification period overlapped by the extension.
