Section 639.740 - Container for dispensing prescribed medicine

Except for a hospital pharmacy for inpatients or in a facility for skilled nursing or a facility for extended care, all prescribed medicine must be dispensed in a container which is designed to prevent a child from opening it, if commercially available, unless the person to whom the medication is dispensed:
1. Is at least 18 years of age;
2. Specifically requests a container which is not so designed; and
3. Signs a document verifying that he or she made such a request.
