Section 639.943 - Required security of drugs and records

1. A pharmacy which uses a computerized system to fill prescriptions shall install equipment, and establish and maintain written policies and procedures which are necessary to:

(a) Prohibit access by unauthorized persons to any area in the pharmacy in which drugs are stored or processed; and

(b) Prohibit access by unauthorized persons to confidential records or information of patients.

2. A pharmacy shall, as soon as practicable, notify the Board of any breach of security which results in the unauthorized removal of drugs.
