ADMINISTRATION OF GENERAL ANESTHESIA, MODERATE SEDATION OR DEEP SEDATION
Section 631.2223 - Inspections and evaluations: General requirements

An inspection or evaluation ordered by the Board must be conducted in all offices where general anesthesia, deep sedation or moderate sedation is to be administered and, except as otherwise required in NAC 631.2236, must consist of:
1. An evaluation of the office's facilities and equipment, records and emergency medications; and
2. A demonstration of:
(a) The administration to a patient who is
receiving dental treatment of the type of anesthesia or sedation for which the
dentist is applying for a permit;
(b) Simulated emergencies in the surgical
area of the dental office with participation by the members of the staff who
are trained to handle emergencies;
(c) A dental procedure utilizing the type of
anesthesia or sedation for which the dentist is applying for a
permit;
(d) Any anesthesia or
sedation technique that is routinely employed during the administration of
anesthesia or sedation;
(e) The
appropriate monitoring of a patient during anesthesia or sedation;
and
(f) The observation of a
patient during recovery and the time allowed for recovery.
