Section 630.156 - Continuing education: Training required for certain physicians relating to persons with substance use and other addictive disorders and prescribing of opioids; credit for training

1. Pursuant to the provisions of NRS 630.2535, a holder of a license to practice medicine who is registered to dispense controlled substances pursuant to NRS 453.231 shall, during each period for biennial registration, complete at least 2 hours of continuing medical education relating specifically to the misuse and abuse of controlled substances, the prescribing of opioids or addiction.

2. A program of continuing medical education relating specifically to the misuse and abuse of controlled substances, the prescribing of opioids or addiction must offer, upon successful completion of the program, a certificate of Category 1 credit as recognized by the American Medical Association to the holder of the license.

3. A holder of a license to practice medicine who is registered to dispense controlled substances pursuant to NRS 453.231 is entitled to receive credit towards the continuing medical education required pursuant to subsection 1 of NAC 630.153 for each hour of continuing medical education completed pursuant to subsection 1.
