Certifying Authorities
Section 618.359 - Requirements for approval

1. A person who desires to be approved by the Division as a certifying authority of tower cranes or cranes which are used to erect and dismantle tower cranes must submit to the Division proof that he or she:
(a) Has
completed at least 5 years of employment as an inspector of cranes;
(b) Has completed at least 5 years of
employment as a representative of a manufacturer of cranes;
(c) Is approved in another state as a
certifying authority of cranes or the equivalent of a certifying authority, if
the Division determines that the requirements of the State for approval of a
certifying authority are substantially equivalent to the requirements set forth
in NAC 618.365 to 618.370, inclusive, and 618.380 to 618.385, inclusive;
or
(d) Has devoted at least 1,000
hours to the mechanical and structural maintenance and repair of cranes during
the last 5 years of employment.
2. In addition to the requirements set forth in subsection 1, a person who desires to be approved as a certifying authority of tower cranes or cranes which are used to erect and dismantle tower cranes must pass:
(a) A written or oral examination
on the applicable standards adopted by reference pursuant to NAC 618.358;
and
(b) A practical examination
which demonstrates the ability of the person to:
(1) Examine visually the welds and
attachments of the critical members of a crane;
(2) Conduct a rated load test; and
(3) Inspect and test a crane for compliance
with the requirements set forth in the standards adopted by reference pursuant
to NAC 618.358.
