Section 484D.195 - Sale and use of excessively worn tires prohibited

Except as provided in subsection 1 of NAC 484D.190 and subsection 1 of NAC 484D.205:

1. No person holding a retail seller's permit as defined in NRS 372.125 may sell, offer for sale, expose for sale or install on a vehicle for use on a highway a pneumatic tire when the tire is so worn that less than 2/32 of an inch of tread depth remains on any two adjacent major tread grooves.

2. No person may cause or permit the operation of and no person may knowingly operate any vehicle on a highway when the tire is so worn that less than 2/32 of an inch of tread depth remains in any two adjacent major tread grooves.

3. The provisions of this section do not apply to any person who installs on a vehicle, as part of an emergency service rendered to a disabled vehicle upon a highway, a spare tire so that the vehicle is equipped for temporary use to a place where repair or replacement can be effected.
