Section 457.400 - Tests required after certain repairs or replacements of components

Tests for quality assurance must be performed pursuant to 21 C.F.R. § 900.12 whenever any component of the radiation machine is repaired or replaced, and before the machine is used for mammography if the repair or replacement affects:

1. Image quality.

2. The accuracy or consistency of operation of the exposure timer or automatic exposure control.

3. Milliampere-seconds linearity.

4. The accuracy of the kilovolt peak indicated by the machine.

5. The skin entrance exposure or glandular tissue dose.

6. Focal spot size.

7. Half-value layer.
