Section 450B.355 - Certification of first responders

1. To be certified as an emergency medical responder, an applicant must:
2. The applicant shall submit verification to the Division, signed by the person responsible for conducting the training, that the applicant has successfully completed the national standard specified in paragraph (b) of subsection 1.

Upon certification, an emergency medical responder may function within the scope of practice identified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the United States Department of Transportation in its publication designated "National EMS Scope of Practice Model 2019: Including Change Notices 1.0 and 2.0" dated August 2021, which is hereby adopted by reference. 4. An initial certificate as an emergency medical responder is valid for not more than 2 years as determined by the Division and expires on the date appearing on the face of the certificate.
