Section 444.6415 - Permit to operate disposal site: Response to notice of intent to issue or deny application; request for public hearing; notice of public hearing

1. An applicant for a permit to operate a disposal site and any other interested person may, within 30 days after the notice of intent is issued pursuant to NAC 444.641:
(a) Submit a written request to the solid
waste management authority for a public hearing on the proposed issuance or
denial of the permit which must state the nature of the issues which the
requester intends to raise at the hearing; or
(b) Submit written comments on the proposed
issuance or denial of the permit to the solid waste management
authority.
2. The solid waste management authority:
(a) May schedule a
public hearing if requested pursuant to this section or on its own initiative;
and
(b) Shall publish a notice of a
hearing scheduled pursuant to this section at least 30 days before the date of
that hearing.
3. The solid waste management authority may extend the period for public review as it deems necessary.
