Section 441A.710 - Trichinosis

The health authority shall investigate each report of a case having trichinosis to confirm the diagnosis, to determine the extent of any outbreak, to identify the source of the infection and to confiscate samples of meat for laboratory testing. The health authority shall report any identified source of infection within 24 hours of discovery to the State Health Officer. The State Health Officer shall notify the Administrator of the Division of Animal Industry of the State Department of Agriculture (State Veterinarian) or other appropriate regulatory agency.
