1. Each facility shall ensure that any immunizations recommended by a veterinarian for a pet kept at the facility are up-to-date, regardless of whether the pet is kept inside or outside the facility.
2. Pets are only permitted in a facility if they are:
(a) In good health, present no problems of
sanitation and have a temperament which is not hazardous or frightening to
children;
(b) Handled in a manner
which protects the well-being of the children and the pet;
(c) Inoculated as often as prescribed by a
veterinarian; and
(d) Restricted
from areas where food is prepared and from eating areas while meals are being
served as required by state and local health agencies.
3. Each facility shall ensure that any litter boxes are kept out of the reach of young children and that play areas are cleaned of all animal feces before children are allowed access to those areas.
