SECONDARY LICENSES AND ENDORSEMENTS
Section 391.13046 - Major or minor in instrumental and vocal music

1. A comprehensive major in instrumental and vocal music consists of 36 semester hours in a course of study as follows:
(a)
Twenty-four semester hours which must include at least 3 semester hours in each
of the following areas:
(1) Music
theory;
(2) The history or
literature of music;
(3) Applied
music, including training in instrumental and vocal music;
(4) Piano; and
(5) Techniques and pedagogy for brass,
woodwind, string and percussion instruments; and
(b) Twelve semester hours which must include
at least 3 semester hours in each of the following areas:
(1) Conducting;
(2) Music ensemble; and
(3) Choral literature, diction or vocal
techniques and pedagogy.
2. A comprehensive minor in instrumental and vocal music consists of 24 semester hours of credit in a course of study as follows:
(a) Fifteen semester hours which
must include at least 3 semester hours in each of the following areas:
(1) Music theory;
(2) The history and literature of
music;
(3) Applied music in
instrumental and vocal music; and
(4) Piano; and
(b) Nine semester hours in the following
areas:
(1) Conducting;
(2) Music ensemble;
(3) Techniques and pedagogy for brass,
woodwind, string and percussion instruments; and
(4) Choral literature, diction or vocal
techniques and pedagogy.
