SECONDARY LICENSES AND ENDORSEMENTS
Section 391.13045 - Major or minor in instrumental music

1. A comprehensive major in instrumental music consists of 36 semester hours of credit in a course of study as follows:
(a)
Twenty-four semester hours which must include at least 3 semester hours in each
of the following areas:
(1) Music
theory;
(2) The history or
literature of music;
(3) Applied
music in instrumental music which must be in an area of specialization;
and
(4) Piano; and
(b) Twelve semester hours which
must include at least 3 semester hours in each of the following areas:
(1) Conducting;
(2) Music ensemble; and
(3) Techniques and pedagogy for brass,
woodwind, string and percussion instruments.
2. A comprehensive minor in instrumental music consists of 24 semester hours of credit in a course of study as follows:
(a) Fifteen semester hours which must include
at least 3 semester hours in each of the following areas:
(1) Music theory;
(2) The history or literature of
music;
(3) Applied music in
instrumental music which must be in an area of specialization; and
(4) Piano; and
(b) Nine semester hours in the following
areas:
(1) Conducting;
(2) Music ensemble; and
(3) Techniques and pedagogy for brass,
woodwind, string and percussion instruments.
