Section 388.165 - Required licensing of teachers; exception

1. Except as otherwise provided in this section, a teacher:
(a) In a unit must be licensed in the area of
special education, with an endorsement in the area of disability represented by
the majority of the pupils in the unit.
(b) Of the gifted and talented must meet the
requirements for licensure for teaching in a program for the gifted and
talented.
2. An exception to the requirements of this section may be made with the written approval of the Department.
