Chapter 304 - Election of United States Representatives
Section 304.020 - Nomination of candidates by major political parties and minor political parties to fill vacancy

1. In the event of a vacancy in the office of Representative in Congress, each major political party and minor political party may nominate a candidate to fill the vacancy. The nominations must be submitted to the Secretary of State not later than 5 p.m.:

2. A major political party or minor political party that does not submit its nomination pursuant to the requirements of subsection 1 is prohibited from placing a candidate on the ballot for the special election.

3. The provisions of this section apply to every major political party and minor political party regardless of the bylaws, rules or regulations of the major political party or minor political party.
