Hobby boilers may be viewed as meeting the requirements as a "State Special" provided that details in the English language and United States customary units of the construction, material specifications and calculations, approved by a registered professional engineer experienced in boiler design, are submitted to the Chief Inspector for review by the Boiler Safety Advisory Board. Approval of such a boiler as a "state special" may be given where the boiler is found to be in compliance with acceptable standards and approval is obtained from the Commissioner.
