Medicaid personal assistance services are defined in federal regulations at 42 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 440.167, and are an optional Medicaid benefit. Personal assistance services are provided to persons with disabilities and chronic conditions of all ages to enable them to accomplish tasks they would normally do for themselves if they did not have a disability. Personal assistance services activities are limited to those activities that are required to maintain the client's health and safety. The regulations govern the services provided under Nebraska's Medicaid program as defined by Nebraska Revised Statue (Neb. Rev. Stat.) §§ 68-901 et seq.
