006.25A Grade Levels: 7-12.

006.25B Endorsement Type: Subject.

006.25C Persons with this endorsement may teach geography in grades 7 through 12.

006.25D Certification Endorsement Requirements: This endorsement requires a minimum of 36 semester hours including 30 hours in geography and 6 hours in one or more of the other social science areas (Anthropology/Sociology, Economics, History, Political Science, and/or Psychology).

006.25E Endorsement Program Requirements: Nebraska teacher education institutions offering this endorsement program must have on file, within the institution, a plan which identifies the courses and the course completion requirements which the institution utilizes to grant credit toward completion of this endorsement.

THE FOLLOWING ARE RECOMMENDED GUIDELINES FOR INCLUSION AS PART OF THE INSTITUTION'S PLAN UNDER THIS ENDORSEMENT.

Through the courses identified in its plan, the institution should prepare prospective teachers to:

A. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of and be able to teach the concepts, skills, and processes of social studies as defined in the Nebraska Content Standards for eighth and twelfth grades.

The institution should also provide the following:

B. A minimum of 30 hours in geography which should include political, physical, human, economic and cultural geography; and applications of and trends in all such areas.

C. A minimum of 6 hours in one or more of the other Social Science areas (Anthropology/Sociology, Economics, History, Political Science, and/or Psychology).
