Rule 37.14.1020 - SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MOBILE DIAGNOSTIC RADIOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT

(1) The equipment used in mobile diagnostic radiography shall be as follows:
(a) All requirements of ARM
37.14.1012(1)
shall be satisfied except (g).
(b)
A type of dead-man switch for an exposure switch shall be provided, together
with electrical cord of sufficient length so that the operator can stand at
least 6 feet from the useful beam.
(2) When a mobile unit is used routinely in 1 location, it shall be considered a fixed installation subject to the shielding requirements specified in ARM 37.14.1003(5) and 37.14.1012(2).
(3) The operating procedures applicable to mobile diagnostic radiographic equipment are as follows:
(a) All provisions of ARM
37.14.1012(3)
apply.
(b) The target-to-skin
distance shall not be less than 15 inches.
(c) Personnel monitoring shall be required
for all persons associated with the operation of mobile x-ray
equipment.
(d) Mobile x-ray
equipment shall not be used for photofluoroscopy unless it meets the
requirements for mobile fluoroscopes in ARM
37.14.1006.
(e) The operator shall wear a protective
apron or stand behind a suitable shield.
