(1) Each facility shall employ or contract with a medical director who shall:
(a) coordinate with and advise the staff of
the facility on clinical matters;
(b) provide direction, consultation, and
training regarding the facility programs and operations as needed;
(c) act as a liaison for the facility with
community physicians, hospital staff, and other professionals and agencies with
regard to psychiatric services; and
(d) ensure the quality of treatment and
related services through participation in the facility quality assurance
process.
(2) The facility physician, psychiatrist, or advanced practice registered nurse may also serve as the facility medical director.
