Rule 24.159.1207 - REGISTERED NURSE FIRST ASSIST

(1) A registered nurse first assistant (RNFA) is a perioperative registered nurse who:
(a) is certified as a CNOR with proof of
completion from the Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI) approved RNFA
education program;
(b) works in
collaboration with the surgeon and other health care team members to achieve
optimal patient outcomes;
(c) has
acquired the necessary knowledge, judgment, and skills specific to the expanded
role of RNFA clinical practice;
(d)
intraoperatively practices at the direction of the surgeon; and
(e) does not concurrently function as a scrub
person.
