Rule 24.138.3225 - EQUIPMENT STANDARDS

(1) A permit holder performing deep sedation/general anesthesia must maintain a minimum of equipment, supplies, and drugs onsite, including, but not limited to, the following:
(a) a positive pressure oxygen
delivery system;
(b) stethoscope
and sphygmomanometer;
(c)
laryngoscope, endotracheal tubes, a Magill forcep, and alternative airway
devices such as a laryngeal mask airways of appropriate size;
(d) oral pharyngeal and/or nasopharyngeal
airways;
(e) electrocardiac monitor
and defibrillator;
(f) appropriate
drugs for emergencies to include drugs to provide advanced cardiac life
support;
(g) a precordial or
pretracheal stethoscope and capnograph;
(h) pulse oximeter;
(i) suction devices, standard and
emergency;
(j) for intubated
patients under general anesthesia, must include end tidal CO2 monitoring;
and
(k) when malignant hyperthermia
triggering agents are routinely used, medications used to treat hyperthermia
must be immediately available.
(2) A permit holder performing moderate sedation must maintain a minimum of equipment, supplies, and drugs onsite, including, but not limited to, the following:
(a) a positive pressure oxygen delivery
system;
(b) precordial or
pretracheal stethoscope and capnograph;
(c) pulse oximeter;
(d) stethoscope and
sphygmomanometer;
(e) oral
pharyngeal and/or nasopharyngeal airways;
(f) defibrillator;
(g) appropriate drugs for
emergencies;
(h) suction devices,
standard and emergency; and
(i)
continuous electrocardiac monitoring on American Society of Anesthesiologists
(ASA) Class 2 and greater patients.
(3) A licensed dentist administering nitrous oxide/oxygen must maintain a minimum of equipment and supplies onsite appropriate to meet emergencies.
