The State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program was established to aid in the development of viable communities that provide their residents with suitable living environment and economic opportunities. Mississippi's State CDBG program is designed to be consistent with this primary objective by providing funds for local projects with activities that meet one of the following national objectives of the Community Development Act of 1974, as amended:

A. Benefits to Low/Moderate Income Persons;

B. Give maximum feasible priority to activities that will benefit low- and moderate-income persons;

C. Slum or blight;

D. Aid in the prevention or elimination of slum or blight;

E. Urgent Needs

F. Meet other community development needs having a particular urgency because existing conditions pose a serious and immediate threat to the health or welfare of the community and where other financial resources are not available to meet such needs.
