Hurricane Season begins on June 1st and extends through November 30th of each year. Hurricane Conditions are set by the U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port ("COTP"), Mobile Area of Responsibility, and are used to alert the maritime community to changes that may need to be made in Port operations in preparation of an upcoming tropical storm or hurricane. The COTP provides Maritime Safety Information Bulletins ("MSIB") to the Port Authority via fax or email whenever a tropical storm or hurricane is approaching or may affect the Port.
