Rule 15-5-85-3.6.3 - Insufficient proof for filing a birth certificate

When the State Registrar has reasonable cause to question the adequacy or validity of the information provided or the supporting affidavits, the birth certificate shall not be filed. Once the State Registrar determines the proof is insufficient, a court order will be required prior to the birth being registered. Pursuant to Mississippi Code Annotated § 41-57-19, the State Board of Health shall be summoned to appear at any such hearing.
