For both galvanic and impressed current systems, if more than 100 feet of piping exists between any two anodes, the reference electrode must also be placed at the midpoint between the two anodes that are separated by more than 100 feet (see Figure 12). In addition, if it is not known where the piping anodes are located, there can be no more than 100 feet of piping between any two test points. This midpoint placement is in addition to any other reference electrode placement that may be required as noted above in Sections 6.10.1 through 6.10.
