Anyone who is a MDEQ certified UST installer may repair the cathodic protection system of a sti-P3 tank provided any provisions the tank manufacturer may have are also met. The design requirements for the installation of additional sacrificial anodes to a sti-P3 tank may be met without the need for a corrosion expert to design such, provided the provisions of the Steel Tank Institute "Recommended Practice for the Installation of Supplemental Anodes for sti-P3 UST's R-972-01" are followed. An evaluation of the cathodic protection system must be conducted within six months of the installation/repair in accordance with the requirements of this document.
