UPC section 608.5 is amended to read as follows:

608.5 Drains. Relief valves located inside a building shall be provided with:

(1) a drain that is not smaller than the relief valve outlet and piping and fittings made of galvanized steel, hard-drawn copper, CPVC, or PP; or

(2) a listed relief valve drain tube with fittings. The drain and drain tube shall not reduce the internal bore of the pipe or tubing (straight lengths as opposed to coils) and shall terminate to a safe place of disposal or within 18 inches of the floor.

Relief valve drains shall not terminate in a buildings crawl space. No part of a drain pipe shall be trapped or subject to freezing. The terminal end of the drain pipe shall not be threaded.
